Quality Thomas Cook Womens Boots
The range splits two ways: Wynyard gumboots for wet work, with a steel shank through the arch so the boot holds its shape on a stirrup or a ladder rung, and leather Chelseas, dress boots and ropers for everything else.
There Is a Steel Shank in the Gumboot
Most gumboots are a rubber tube with a sole on the bottom, which is why they fold under your arch the moment you stand on a ladder rung or a stirrup. Thomas Cook puts a steel shank through the Wynyard, so the boot holds its shape underfoot and takes your weight on a narrow edge without collapsing.
The rest follows from there. A faux fur lining takes the cold off the rubber, there is a loop at the centre back so you can haul them on without a fight, and the shaft sits at about 13cm, which is short enough to walk in properly and tall enough to keep the puddles out. It is a gumboot you can actually spend a morning in rather than one you tolerate for ten minutes.
Wynyard Gumboots and the Wet Weather End
The Wynyard is far and away the biggest line here, running to more than twenty colourways across four generations of the boot. It comes in the sensible finishes, dark khaki, chocolate, black and navy, and in a long list of ones that are not, including bottle green, forest moss, ocean blue, mustard, rose and a purple and lavender pair.
A second gumboot style covers the shorter shaft, and there is a mid-height boot in a horse print for anyone who wants the joke made properly. The full Wynyard gumboots range, and the wider Thomas Cook gumboots collection carry the rest of the colours.
Dress Boots, Chelseas and Ropers
The leather half of the range is where the dressing up happens. Dress boots come in chestnut, tan, brunette brown and black, with a suede version among them, and there are six Chelsea styles including a two-tone. Ropers and a Western cut cover anyone who wants a heel with a bit of shape to it.
Colours here run warmer than the men's side, through rich tan, golden tan, russet, caramel, brandy and ecru, alongside the standard browns and blacks. A few unisex styles cross over from the Thomas Cook men's boots range, so a couple can buy the same boot in two sizes.
Order a Pair, or Two
Order from the Thomas Cook women's boot range at any hour, and freight comes off the bill above $175. Gumboots are usually bought a size up if you wear thick socks in them, and the leather boots are not, so it is worth a quick call rather than a return. The Parafield showroom has both ends of the range on the floor.
