Full Grain, an Inch and a Half Wide

The leather is full grain, which is the outermost layer of the hide with the surface left intact rather than sanded back and coated. Left intact like that, a good belt darkens and takes on a shine along the fold line rather than cracking and flaking after a couple of seasons. It is the single biggest difference between a belt you keep and one you replace.

The width is the other thing to know. These are cut at an inch and a half, which is the standard jeans belt loop, so a Ringers belt threads through denim without being forced. Buckles are engraved antique silver, held on with twin leather keepers, and most straps carry contrast Western embroidery worked down the length.

The Styles and the Hardware

The deepest line is a plain-strap belt that comes in five hardware and leather combinations: black with gold, black with silver, black on black, and tawny brown with either gold or silver. Between those five, most people find the one that matches the boots and the watch they already own, which is the whole job.

Past that, the range gets more decorative. There are tooled and stitched styles, a suede strap, and named designs running through tan, coffee, burnt brown and light camel with antique silver and antique gold fittings.
