The Anatomy of a Hat

 

 

  • Crown
    • The crown is the part of the hat that sits over the head, shaping the hat and providing its height and structure.
  • Brim
    • The hat brim extends from the base of the crown, providing shade and protection from the sun.
  • Accessory Band
    • Made from fabric or leather, accessory bands wrap around the base of the crown to add style or detail to the hat.
  • Brim Edge
    • The outermost border of the brim, brim edges are finished with stitching, binding, or shaping to enhance durability and style.
  • Sweat Band
    • The inner band lines the base of the crown to absorb moisture and provide a comfortable fit.
  • Crown Height
    • The vertical measurement from the base of the crown to a hat's highest point.
  • Brim Width
    • The distance from the base of the crown to the outer edge of the brim.
