Good jeans, poor communication

Ordered 2 pair of these jeans plus a belt same day, same payment etc. the jeans are spot on, comfy, good value for money! I however received the price of the belt back into my account with no explanation, then only 1 pair of jeans turned up in the post. I rang to ask what might have been going on. The second pair of jeans were on back order and the belt in the size I ordered wasn’t available - all fair enough but I’m wondering how I was able to add these items to my cart if they weren’t available and/or a simple message to let me know the second pair of jeans would be on their way once they came in would have been ideal instead of leaving me questioning.
