What can I wear with my Walker Mexican Western Hat?
Casual weekends or station work
Team it with a light country shirt and your go-to jeans. A breathable long sleeve like the ones in our casual shirt range keeps the sun off without cooking you. Finish it with a simple leather belt and you're set for feed runs or market mornings.
Rodeo, muster or country events
A denim skirt or dress pairs well with the Walker’s clean shape. The western brim balances out patterned shirts or embroidered tops without stealing the show. Good for long days outside, with plenty of airflow to stop you melting in the sun.
Warm-weather camping or road trips
Wear it with relaxed tees or a lightweight button-up, plus shorts or moleskins if you want a bit of protection. The brim gives you handy shade around waterholes or walking tracks, and the natural straw won't feel heavy.
FAQs
How do I know what size to get in my Walker Hat?
To establish your size as per your head measurement, measure the circumference around your head - approximately 12mm (1/2") above your ears. Keep the dressmaker tape level and firm, and keep it across your temple and above your eyebrow ridges. For in-between measurements, select the next size up. For example, if your head measurement is 58.2cm, you would choose a size 59 hat. You want a close fit, but not so firm that the band leaves a mark on your forehead when you have worn your hat for a period of time. If you're trying your hat on instore, and you have a choice of a size that is a bit too firm, but the next size is a bit too loose, we recommend selecting the larger size,
Is the brim stiff or flexible?
It has a firm shape with minimal flex. This keeps the western curve neat and stops the brim waving around on windy days.
How do I clean a straw western hat?
Use a soft hat brush to flick dust off. For marks, wipe lightly with a barely damp cloth. Avoid soaking the straw - it can warp. Store it somewhere cool and dry - not on a hot ute dashboard!
Can I wear it in the rain?
Light sprinkles won’t hurt, but straw and heavy water don’t mix. If it gets wet, let it dry naturally on a flat surface and do not use heat or sun to accelerate the drying process.
How should I store my hat?
Keep it on a hat stand or hanger, or upside down on the crown so the brim keeps its shape.
