What can I wear with my Clyde Crochet Safari Hat?
Casual summer day
Think light linen. Add sandals and sunnies - the natural colour of the hat keeps things simple but stylish. Great if you’re grabbing lunch, doing errands, or going to a casual outdoor event.
Beach or riverside outing
Pair with a loose sundress or a tank top and denim shorts. The brim gives you some shade, while the raffia keeps you cool. Throw in a tote bag and some thongs and you’re sorted.
Urban summer-to-autumn look
Wear with skinny jeans, a lightweight blouse or button-up shirt and casual boots. Throw on a light jacket if it’s breezy. The hat brings a touch of easy-going style.
Festival or market day
Go for a pretty print dress and some slip ons. The natural safari look fits well with a relaxed, slightly artsy vibe - perfect for wandering markets or festivals.
FAQs
How do I know what size to get in the Clyde Hat?
To establish your size as per your head measurement, measure the circumference around your head - approximately 12mm (1/2") above your ears. Keep the dressmaker tape level and firm, and keep it across your temple and above your eyebrow ridges. For in-between measurements, select the next size up. For example, if your head measurement is 58.2cm, you would choose a size 59 hat. You want a close fit, but not so firm that the band leaves a mark on your forehead when you have worn your hat for a period of time. If you're trying your hat on instore, and you have a choice of a size that is a bit too firm, but the next size is a bit too loose, we recommend selecting the larger size. The Clyde Safari Hat comes in sizes S (55-56cm), M (57cm), L (58-59cm) and XL (60-61cm).
What material is it made from?
It’s made from raffia - a light, natural fibre that’s breathable and ideal for warm weather
Is the brim wide enough for sun protection?
The brim is 7 cm wide - decent for everyday sun protection. It helps shade your face while staying easy to wear and not too floppy.
How do I care for my Clyde raffia hat?
Keep it dry and avoid heavy rain or water. If it gets dusty, use a hat brush to gently brush off dirt rather than wetting it. Store it somewhere cool and dry so it keeps its shape - heat and humidity can warp raffia over time.
