Manawatu Knitting Mills was established in New Zealand in 1884 and is the oldest knitting mill in Australasia. During the last century, MKM has grown from a modest producer of hosiery, to one of the most comprehensive knitwear manufacturers in New Zealand. Using the most advanced technology available, MKM produce practical, comfortable and durable knitwear such as jumpers, vests, beanies, gloves, and hats for today’s generation.

MKM designs are produced from Possum, Merino and wool fibres. The Possum fibres are 55% warmer than merino and 35% warmer than cashmere. Merino and Possum fibres can also adapt to the elements. In extreme cold, the hollow fibres won’t freeze. They also draw moisture away from the skin, keeping the wearer dry and warm. The fibre itself is soft making the garments gentle on the skin.

The MKM work wear range of jumpers, tees and singlets are made from wool, one of the best fibres in the world, producing garments that are tough, durable and long wearing. The high “wickability” of wool means that moisture is moved away from the skin to the surface of the fabric, not only providing warmth in the Winter, but being cool in the Summer.
